Ruby is a runner. If she sees our front door open she will go out it and start running straight down the driveway to the street. The bad thing is now she has learned to open the front door and go out.She can even unlock the lock on the door- knob.We have to keep the deadbolt locked to keep her from getting out.
My 14 yr. old son, Daniel, went out to the car to get something, Ruby, seeing that the door was not locked, opened the door and went out. From my bedroom I hear my 7 year old son,Zane, screaming Ruby's name like I have never heard him scream before.I was terrified and ran to the front door to see my son Daniel carrying Ruby back to the house.Ruby had gotten to our van in the driveway where Daniel was and he caught her.
Poor Zane did not realize that Daniel was outside and thought Ruby was getting out of the house all by herself.I took Ruby from Daniel and brought her back inside.Zane was on the couch crouched in the corner hiding his face and sobbing. He thought Ruby was going to get out in the street and get run over.I sat down next to him on the couch with Ruby in my lap.I told him everything was okay and that Daniel had seen Ruby and caught her.My poor little Zane was so relieved and grabbed Ruby and I and started hugging us.Ruby started patting Zane and saying,"You kay? You kay?"
Ruby has siblings that love her so much.We all love her so much.I can't imagine how anyone could ever think that a child with Down syndrome is a burden. Ruby is our treasure.
I just thought it was the sweetest thing to see how much my son loves his little sister, and how much she loves him in return.
Life with my 11 wonderful children. My youngest daughter Ruby is blessed with Down Syndrome.

Fun at the park
I was sitting at the computer this afternoon and my girls and little boy came to me and wanted to go to the park.Ruby even got in on it,she said,"Mom,park?" She then ran and got her shoes and socks.Well, needless to say my husband and I couldn't resist such cuteness. Here are some pics of our fun at the park. The last two pictures show how upset Ruby was about having to leave the park to go home. :)

Names
In recent weeks Ruby started saying both of our dogs names,Angel and Paisley.Sounding like" Angu" and "Payswe."We all thought it was so funny that she started saying the pets names first before saying her siblings names! Lol. Well ,today she called out for her sister ,Meagan, saying "Maymay "and this evening she saw a picture of her sister, Rebecca, that we had posted on Facebook and she very clearly said,"Rebecca!"
Everytime I hear her say a new word I get a big lump in my throat and tear up.
I love you so much my little pumpkin!

More Crawling
I'm so excited about Ruby crawling. After working on it for so long I just thought she probably never would crawl and just go straight to walking. She has been army crawling on her belly for a long time, and has even bear crawled a few steps lately, but one day a couple of weeks ago she just decided she would crawl on hands and knees!
It's just so wonderful to see her getting around everywhere and not scrubbing the floor with her belly.A couple of nights after she started crawling I was sitting in our living room, and Ruby had scooted on her belly into our kitchen and then she got up on her hands and knees to crawl and I just started crying.I was so happy!See Ruby can!!

Ruby is growing and a picture from Mother's Day
I put Ruby on lactose free milk and she has finally started putting on weight and is able to have regular bowel movements.I took her for a check-up with her doctor and her weight is in the 25th percentile on the Down syndrome charts,up from the 10th percentile.Ruby still will not eat enough food for me to quit giving her a bottle.I give her lactose free whole
milk, two tablespoons of infant oatmeal cereal, and vitamins in her bottles.
I have already shared my Mother's Day picture on Facebook so a lot of you have already seen it
but I wanted to post it to my blog too.
Please, remember to keep praying for Sweet Ella as she fights Leukemia.
