Spit Up

I am so sick of spit up!!Ugh!Spit up on my clothes, in my hair, on the floor, on Ruby,at home,at church,at therapy!Sigh.I wish I had a video of the time my 14 yr old daughter lifted Ruby in the air over her and Ruby spit up all in sister's mouth!!!!Ick! My poor little Ruby spits up all the time.I have asked her pedi. about it and she thinks it will get better when Ruby's stomach muscles get stronger.I hope it's soon!

Joel has the same problem. I know exactly how you feel! It is so frustrating. Our carpets are going to need a good cleaning this spring!

Joel is on Losec for reflux and it has really helped with the frequency of his spit up. Now he usually only spits up once a day if that. He is also getting older and I think that has helped too. We have been able to decrease his Losec dose by quite a bit.

I hope Ruby out grows it soon!

oh man, I remember those days!! I didn't think it was ever going to end. Adam had reflux but we never had to give him medication for it because he didn't seem to do it in his sleep and he never aspirated. When Adam was around 2 it did stop (around the time he started walking). Then when he was 7 we found out he never really stopped he has what they call silent reflux and we watch what he eats and he is on medication now. Good Luck!!! (We were on first name basis with our carpet cleaner guy during that time)

Ha! Yes, I remember those days, too. Samantha spat up until she was 2. It did get noticably better once she started walking at 21 months, but for some reason, 2 was the charm. I have some pretty crazy spit-up stories I'll have to save for a retrospective blog post one day. Ruby's still adorable, even with milk pouring out of her mouth. LOL

Oh yes, I feel your pain!! Dylan is the same way and is currently taking Zantac for it. Well, that doesnt seem to be helping so we have an appt. with a GI specialist in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know what she says...

And - Dylan and i thank you for the blog award!! : )

I remember those days to well with Jonathan. But thinking about it I truly believe I have been wearing spit up, runny nose, and food on me for oh about the past 17 years. I wouldn't know how to act if I left the house clean :)

I hear you on the spit up... you never know when it is coming either! At least with Whitney - it could be just before her next bottle (2-3 hours later) and she will spit up a little. Hopefully their little stomach muscles will get stronger soon :) Ruby looks adorable, even covered in spitup!!!

By the way - thank you so much for the blog award, that definitely made my day :) :) :)

Hello. I just wanted to tell you that T had this issue as do ALOT of kiddos with DS. Our GI started him on Zantac at 9 months and it helped. Maybe ask your PED for a refferal to GI and get this treated sooner than later. Tristan had erosion to his esphogus due to untreated reflux and it caused alot of problems with oral resistance when it came time to eat solids. Eroded esophagus and throat is very painful. Tristan's was fire engine red when he was diagnosed. If it was me I wouldn't wait to see if it gets better because it's not likely it will because of the low muscle tone that is common in DS. At 5 it finally looks like he may be over with Reflux. We are on a 6 month trial without the meds to see.

Hate to give you bad news but Ella is 2 1/2 and we are still spitting up, or puking as I like to call it, as the volume has increased with the increase in food. I was told for 2 years that it would stop, it was just low muscle tone, finally I had had enough!!! Ella is on Prevacid now, she tried a couple of other things before this, but it's the only thing that works. Now she may puke 1 to 3 times a day, but this at least takes the acid out of it so it doesn't burn their little throats. Good luck : )
